A gorgeous little piece of mid-century Japanese whimsy! This vintage ceramic vase features a bright green bird perched on a richly glazed cobalt blue tree trunk, surrounded by hand-painted red blossoms, leafy branches, berries, and sculpted wood-grain details.
The deep blue glaze has beautiful variations and crazing that give the piece plenty of vintage character, while the colorful bird and flowers really pop against the darker background. The open top makes it perfect as a small bud vase, but it’s just as charming displayed on its own.
Marked “Made in Japan” on the bottom and likely dating to the mid-20th century.
Condition: Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear, crazing, glaze variations, and imperfections.
Perfect for: vintage pottery collectors, bird lovers, maximalist decor, cottagecore displays, or anyone whose shelves could use a slightly judgmental little green bird.
There are 2 of these available. Variations may be present due to hand painting.
A little old. A little odd. A Gay Ol’ Time.
