1960 Federal Equipment Co. Vintage Post Office Box Door - Combination Lock

$45.00

Special delivery from 1960 - no stamp required.

This authentic vintage Federal Equipment Company post-office box door dates to 1960, with the date stamped directly into the original mechanism on the reverse.

The front has everything you want from old postal hardware: a fantastic Greek-key border, textured bronze/brass-toned finish, star-shaped alphabet combination dial, locking lever, and original glass identification window. Decades of patina, scratches and finish wear give it exactly the kind of character you’d expect from a piece that spent its working life handling somebody’s mail.

Flip it over and the real mechanical goodness is on display. The original combination-lock assembly, gears, hardware and mounting frame are still present, making this just as interesting from the back as it is from the front.

Federal Equipment Co. produced postal-box equipment during this period, and surviving 1960 Federal Equipment Co. Doors with similar combination mechanisms are documented in the collector market today.

Perfect for postal-history collectors, industrial decor, architectural salvage, assemblage art, steampunk projects, or the person who thinks their current mailbox simply isn’t dramatic enough.

A little old. A little odd. A Gay Ol’ Time.
